A Great Dog Now provides Minneapolis dog training and behavioral services to the greater Twin Cities metro area. We specialize in humane, science-based dog training using positive reinforcement and operant conditioning — the training methods recommended by veterinary behaviorists and virtually all humane organizations.

These methods have quickly become the gold standard for dog trainers and have replaced older, outdated training models that rely on force, “dominance” and intimidation. But not only are our training methods gentle and humane — they WORK!

Jane Fallander, BS, KPA-CTP, owner and instructor

In addition to training dogs for more than 25  years, I am a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA-CTP). Graduating from the Karen Pryor Academy requires months of intensive study and training practice with regular assessments. To obtain certification, students must graduate with an A or higher. Karen Pryor is one of the world’s leading figures in positive reinforcement training, and I am extremely proud and humbled to be associated with her program.

I worked for the Humane Society for Larimer County in Fort Collins Colorado for 9 years, during which I taught obedience classes to adopters. I have a great deal of empathy and understanding for the animal rescue community.

I keep my education current by regularly attending seminars around the country by leading trainers and behaviorists including Ken Ramirez, Patricia McConnell, Steve White, Brenda Aloff, Suzanne Clothier, Sue Ailsby, Julie Shaw, Jose Rosales-Ruiz, Clicker Expos in Providence and Portland, and others.

Each lesson focuses on your priorities. Use a set curriculum; you follow along whether it addresses your need or not.
You can go as fast or slow as you like. You follow along with everyone else or get left behind.
You can come on the days and times that work for you — full flexibility for your schedule. You can only come on the day and time you signed up for.
You can miss a week or two without being penalized. If work or vacation calls you out of town, you lose that lesson.
